Executive Functioning Skills:

Executive functioning (EF) skills are the abilities in our brain that help you complete everyday tasks. These skills need to be taught and practiced throughout childhood and life.

Executive Functioning skills include:

  • Planning- to set and meet goals
  • Organization- to keep track of things physically and mentally
  • Time Management- using time well to complete tasks
  • Task Initiation- take action to get started on tasks
  • Working memory-keep key information in your mind while using it
  • Impulse control- think before acting
  • Emotional Control- keep feelings in check
  • Flexible Thinking- adjust behavior to unexpected changes
  • Attention-focus on a person or task for a period of time
  • Perseverance- working through challenges and roadblocks that come up
